Traditional Chinese theatre is a highly codified performance that still continues to bepracticed today; these are known as ju forms. This distinct mode of literary and popularexpression of culture brings together different aspects of Chinese aesthetics tradition, history, literature, poetry, music, etc. Space and time are essential aspects of theatre and differentspatiotemporal characteristics will affect the structure of drama differently. These sungdramas or operas, as they are thought of in the west, have a unique space-time relationshipthat forges and informs parts of Chinese culture; it is hoped that the spatio-temporalcharacteristics of Chinese theatre may elucidate further the Chinese perception of space. With the development of society, the new architecture and diverse of design conceptionand style are flood into our life. The concern of architecture space, has been changed fromtraditional ’quantity’’decorate’’foundation’ to conception of valuation. People began toconcern the deepness and wideness of space instead of special skill. An examination of spatialconcepts as they have developed and changed over time will allow us to reflect upon thepower of cross influences which enable us to ’relive’ our being in a new dimension and uponthe dialogical relationship between architectural ’tangible’ and ’intangible’ as it is shaped byperception and conception. We have researched lots of conception of space in Chinese Architecture. The way spaceas we understand it today is spoken of is shaped largely by a western conception of it.Generally, this ’western’ perception of space privileges the tangible over the intangible; withthe Chinese, the converse is true. Therefore, as the old saying goes,"by applying ourselvesconstantly to this ultimate among things that have being, we shall surely bring to light theprimogenitor from which all things derive" Now had been origination of spatial imaginationof Chinese Architecture. With the researching of influence of ’Metaphorical Chinese Theatre’, in order to definethe Chinese conception of space, it is necessary to explore the relationship between theChinese and their places of abode. As such, studies of diverse fields of Chinese culture: philosophy, aesthetics, literature, painting and opera are conducted here in the hope that thismay lead to some general conclusions about the phenomena of space.
