With the rapid development of portable consumer electronics, it has deeply affected the pattern of the automobile industry, and also activates the potential of the in-vehicle infotainment system’s development in this area. When the technology wave of the mobile consumer electronics sweeping to the field of the automobile, as well as consumers improve their demand for cars furtherly, the in-vehicle infotainment system will be driven and constantly strive to be more intelligent, safe and comfortable.The in-vehicle infotainment systems integrated multi-function was designed and implemented with rich expansion interfaces. With the current status and the future trends of the development of electronic technology and the future needs of the community for the car with the high configuration features, the framework design with Freescale i.MX6industrial-grade infotainment processors equipped with Google open source Android system was worked out. The system will include six functional modules:automotive mobile communications and Internet access module, multimedia collection and play module,2D/3D GPS navigation including advanced voice control module, high-capacity storage module, common peripherals interface including HDMI, MiniPCIe, USB and other module, advanced windows interface including the touch screen, cameras modules, to meet the basic performance of the system and cover almost all of the design requirements.From the perspective of hardware design, the hardware schematic design and printed circuit board design of the system will be discussed in detail. In the schematic design, it focused on the core circuit and common peripheral interface circuit of the i.MX6processor, explained the device selection and the principles of application of the main functions of the module. The core circuit design mainly included power management subsystem of the microprocessor, ramdom access memory, read only memory. The common peripheral interface circuit contains wireless connectivity module, audio codec module, MiniPCIe interface, HDMI interface, USB interface. In the printed circuit board design, it focused on the basic layout rules and requirements, the selection of the structure of the board, the probem of the route of the high-speed signal such as DDR3, etc. It also discussed the printed circuit board design’s inevitable problems including the signal impedance, the differential pair traces, the power ground plane, the electro magnetic compatibility. After the test of the system, including system startup testing and system function module testing, the results verificated the correctness of the overall system design,and the final analysis showed that the system fully meet the design requirements. The system supports the expression of the hardware modules, while meeting the software reusability, providing convenience for updating and improving the follow-up car infotainment systems.
