With the very rapid development of the automobile industry, there is very strict demand in higher automatic assembly accuracy and quality. In order to get higher quality and accuracy product, it is necessary to improve automatic assembly technology. To guarantee the stability and reliability of products assembly accuracy, each stage should keep stable and reliable during assembly. In this article, the design of automatic coupling assembly is mainly based on the needs of customers and specific process of the automobile coupling assembly.The article mainly makes some design work in the following several aspects:1. The thesis analysed the current level of domestic and foreign automobile coupling automatic assembly system deeply, and researched factors which affected the accuracy of coupling assembly, making sure whole design of the system.2. The thesis designed the overall framework from two aspects of software and hardware, and devised the logic diagram of the hardware composition according to it, introducing the operating principle and network communication of the whole system in detail, especially for the operating principle and selection of servo drive system. Then, the main hardware selection of system in preparation for the PLC program design is completed.3. The thesis designed the control flow chart according to process, ensuring the address assignment of input and output of PLC, listing table of input and output, writing the PLC control program, and introducing the automatic assembly, calibration, and backing program in detail, the operation of servo motor is set by servo drive software, and the function of servo drive system in automatic assembly system is detailed, the curve of pressure and displacement can be set in the servo drive software, and it devised a pressure limit for a certain period of displacement in order to distinguish the quality of the products.4. The thesis introduced the design ideas of touch screen interface and completed the establishment of the touch screen with PLC in communication, variables, alarm. Then, the thesis designed the touch screen interface, making the touch screen acquired the functions such as pressure and displacement detection, parameters setting, manual operation, calibration, alarm and so on, to realize the real-time checking for the system.The automatic press mounting system can finish the assembly work very well. The coupling went to the workpiece axis accurately by servo drive system, meeting the specific requirements of client.
