As a senior water entertainment consumer products, The yacht has been gotten more and more attention of people in recent years.China’s yacht industry is still in its infancy,which is lack of a comprehensive theory of design. So the research of yacht design theory has important academic significance and practical application value, which has a positive role in promoting the development of China’s yacht industry.This paper introduced the basic process of yacht design systematically and described various aspects of the research in detail; for the present situation which yacht design system is not sound in China and the core design is subject to the abroad, a sailing yacht design flow theory was putted forward. And based on the design of a40feet catamaran sailboat,four modules which are the shape and spatial arrangement of yacht, overall performance optimization, the ship hull structure design, the propulsive force and the speed in the design of sailing yacht were carried on the design and calculation.That four modules will be used as the basic steps of the sailing yacht flow design in this paper.For the module of the modeling and spatial arrangement of yacht, this paper puts forward the concept of yacht style database, through three aspects which include the yacht’s sample selection extraction research of the elements of the modeling’s characteristics, spatial arrangement and function certification, the modeling and spatial arrangement of40feet catamaran sailboat are designed.3d surface model is established by using Rhinos software at the same time, then the material and background rendered is carried on by using Keyshot software, at last the real effect is showed by using virtual technology.About the module of ship hull overall performance optimization, sailing catamaran hull is designed by using the computer aided ship design and building software MAXSURF, and the buoyancy, stability, seakeeping are calculated and optimized; While the hull resistance is simulated by using HULLSPEED module in software MAXSURF, and model experiment is made in the micro-circulation pool special for the yacht dynamic test. Comparing the test results with simulation results, experiment data is revised by regression analysis, which is used to forecast the arc resistance. Considering the special situation that the sailboat is mainly pushed by the wind, in this paper, On the basis of aerodynamic calculation model and the hydrodynamic calculation model of sail, sailing speed is predicted according to solve force and moment balance equation about the sails aerodynamic and hull hydrodynamic, to meet the basic needs of sail’s design of sailing boat.For the Module of the whole ship structure design, this paper compile innovatively the relevant provisions of the fiber reinforced plastic yacht part of the yacht construction rules2008, published by the China classification society into a software structure design process of yacht easy to use for small and medium-sized yacht companies; at the same time finite element calculations of hull structure are made by using ANSYS software, the two results are compared in order to improve the accuracy of the calculation.Research shows that Computer aided yacht streamline design make full use of the advantages of computer aided design and calculation software, and the yacht design is no longer limited to specialized research institutions which have a large number of test equipment, then those advantages can strengthen the development capability of independent brand built by small and medium-sized enterprises in our country. The results show that the coincide degree of theoretical calculation data and testing result of the same type is higher, which can offer theoretical method and basis of boat design and manufacture.
