To improve the output energy of semiconductor bridge (SCB), Al/CuO is selected as energetic materials and two kinds Al/CuO composite semiconductor bridge are designed. Both composite SCB and SCB are tested in many experiments under different excitation conditions in this paper, which conclude ignition tests, high-speed photography tests, temperature tests and safety tests. Major conclusions are summarized as follows:(1) Al/CuO film has no effect on the polysilicon initiation process, Al/CuO composite SCB has same electro-explosive characteristics change rule with the SCB.Thermal conductivity of Al/CuO film is larger, increasing the heat dissipation of energy, resulting in both the explosion time and explosion consumed energy of Al/CuO composite SCB increasing.(2) In capacitance47μF, the charging voltage of30V,40V and50V conditions, the space size and duration of the Al/CuO composite SCB explosive products are bigger than SCB. The output energy is significantly improved.(3) The temperature of Two kinds Al/CuO composite SCB explosive products are higher than SCB in high energy excitation conditions, With the increase of excitation energy, the magnitude of temperature improvement increase first, then unchanged.(4) In the condition of low excitation energy, the plasma energy is relatively low, resulting that reacted area of Al/CuO film is small, The explosive temperature doesn’t obvious improved.(5) The Al/CuO composite SCB has a good performance to the stray current, after1A1W5min test, A1/CuO composite SCB can be normally initiated and ignited.
