Since reform and opening, the urbanization process of china has markedlyaccelerated and has entered into rapid urbanization. How the theory of sustainabledevelopment actively and steadily pushes forward the process of urbanization, is theserious issue china must face in the21st century. The rapid advance of contemporaryurbanization provides a broad platform for economic development, but, in the processof urbanization also highlights the lack of traditional culture, the urban environmentsimplification, the increasing environmental pollution as well as many other issues.Among them, the lack of traditional culture has become the core issue. The creation ofthe artistic conception of vernacular culture is an important way to protect and carryon traditional culture, as well as solve the simplification of cultural environment andseek sustainable development for modern cities.The creation of the artistic conception of vernacular culture is achieved throughmetaphor, blur, contrast and repetition and other techniques. Poetic beauty is the corevalues of the creation. Earth texture is the embodiment of the poetic beauty of theartistic conception of vernacular culture. It has the characteristics of historic,regionalism, naturalness and diversity.My country has a glorious history of earth architecture, and has reached a veryhigh achievement both in the technical and artistic fields. However, we can only recallthose glories today, but did not bring its use value and artistic value into play. How toreproduce the value of the earth texture in the context of contemporary architecture isthe focus of this paper.The author has found during the study: Earth texture is an architecture materialwhich has a wide range of applications and combines many advantages in one. Thepotential of development value is enormous. Although earth texture is graduallydisappearing in the country, but, a number of new construction techniques haveappeared in abroad, such as earth modification, insulated rammed earth, Cast Earth,super adobe and other techniques. Synthesize these traditional and modern designmethods of earth texture material, it can be classified as: materials mixing andmaterials matching, and rammed earth, compressed earth block, plaster and plantingsurface and other design techniques. This paper analyses China Meishan Cultural Park, tea house of five scatteredhouses and "brittlebush"(American landscape architecture project) these three typicalcases, to declare the practical express of earth texture and the creation of the artisticconception of vernacular culture. It proved that the poetic beauty in the creation canbe expressed through modern architecture and landscape design methods.
