Along with the enlarging investment of railway industry to promote the development of China’s economy, high-speed trains, as an important equipment of railway operation, and its design efficiency, safety and reliability affects the development of railway transportation industry in China. Aluminum alloy car body design is an important part during the manufacture of high-speed unit. And it becomes urgent problems during manufacturers that how to save time in the aluminum alloy car body design, reduce the workload of staff, specify analysis process and develop new models to meet the market demand. This paper studied the aluminum alloy car body, and based on modularization, parameterization, automation technology, and designed the aluminum alloy car body CAD/CAE integration rapidly through the secondary development of Pro/ENGINEER and the Hyper Works. Our main research work and productions are listed as follows:(1) Analysed the present situation and trend of domestic and overseas development of the CAD/CAE integration technology, researched the integration of CAD/CAE technology in the application of high-speed unit aluminum alloy car body design.(2) Studied of aluminum alloy car body modularization, parameterization, automation technology, and according to the requirements of the car body design, we made a reasonable module division of the body.(3) Establish rapid design CAD module, stored data information by model database, established3d aluminum alloy car body model through the secondary development of Pro/ENGINEER. In CAD module development process, we establish three-dimensional model rapidly to meet the analytical requirements by using technologies such as parameterized deformation, according to the body design and development process, and the finite element analysis of car body requirements.(4) Establish CAE simulation and analysis module through the secondary development of HyperWorks, and process automation model, pre-processing and post-processing tool to simplify the operations. The development of CAE module pre-processing and post-processing tools set, will simplify the repeated operations, and at the same time leave the experience of analysts on process automation template to guide the user operations.During the process, model fast through the CAD module, make rapid and accurate analysis by using CAE software, and finally generate analysis report to review the rationality of the design. Making the effective use of CAD/CAE integration technology will make CAD design provide better service to the CAE analysis, CAE analysis more quick, and generate analysis report will guide the design and implement benign circulation in return, thus it will lead to reduce the workload of designers, shorten product development cycles, improve the enterprise market competitiveness.
