With the development of automobile industry in recent years, the automobile has gradually spread to our thousands of households. As the number of road vehicles increases, the incidence of traffic accidents also increased, thus the problem about driving safety, especially in bad weather and night is particularly serious. Functions in automotive safety have caused more and more attention, especially functions in vehicle active safety aspects. Automotive safety system is mainly divided into two aspects, one is the passive safety system, the other one is active safety system. Passive safety means cars’protection of passengers or the crashed vehicles or pedestrians during an accident; active safety, however, is a way to avoid accidents by collecting road information and then warn the driver before accidents occurred. Research on active safety system has become the focus of current research and development of vehicle safety.According to statistics, more than60%traffic accidents accounted for poor vision at night and bad weather, therefore, the night vision system become the key factor to ensure the safe driving at night. It improves driving safety by improving drivers’observing ability at night. The current car night vision system can be divided to two kinds according to different principles:a passive system and an active system. Passive night vision system using external light and the heat of object itself to achieve the purpose by the imaging signal amplifier. Vehicle active night vision system is a system with the infrared light source. It implements night vision imaging through the light in front of the vehicle body, and the obtaining of reflect light by camera acquisition module. Compared to passive vehicle vision system, active car night vision systems can also be observed even in the dark road without outside source due to their own with the infrared light source.Many domestic and foreign research institutions and manufacturers are studying the research of all kinds of used cars night vision technology to improve the safety of the vehicle driving at night. But the low illumination infrared image car night vision system in the traditional exist generally large noise, poor contrast, edge blurring problem, which has seriously affected people’s judgement for data in infrared image. Therefore, the domestic automobile industry and research institutions are studying for a night under special circumstances can effectively improve the infrared night vision system for driver visibility and visual effects. Vehicle active night vision system in this paper is a cooperative project of our school with Chery Automobile Research Institute R&D, which aimed to make technical reserves in the development of the next generation of intelligent vehicle. In this paper introduces the application and development of the research background of this topic at home and abroad as well as the mainstream of the infrared detection technology under the DSP chip, a real-time infrared image processing system based on vehicle active night vision system is designed according to security problems existing in the night driving, the driver can not only in the night, but also in the rain and fog, snow and other inclement weather conditions, still can clearly observe the road conditions ahead, thereby improving the driving safety, reduce traffic accidents.In this paper, the main work contents are as follows:1、Analyzed and compared the current mainstream night vision system and the research status at home and abroad. Low illumination of infrared image contrast, edge blur, image noise, image color single problem waiting to be solved on the basis of the night vision system common is introduced in detail.2、In the different infrared light source characteristics and its applications on the basis of the comparative analysis to select a suitable for infrared light vehicle active night vision system.3、In the low light of traditional image enhancement based on the research of algorithm is proposed for the adaptive wavelet neural network in low illumination image enhancement algorithm for infrared image enhancement. 4、Analysis of pseudo-color principle and image processing methods, in the research of the current several main image pseudo-color algorithm on the basis of the analysis presents a pseudo-color image algorithm based on IHS color space.5、Build a system platform. And in the TI company’s DSP chip TMS320DM6446to realize the algorithm to complete the entire vehicle active night vision system, the successful implementation of the system of night vision function.
