Tailing reservoir is a dangerous source of man-made debris flow with high potentialenergy. The number of tailing reservoir in China is large, most of which is small and hascaused safety accidents.On-line safety monitoring of tailing reservoir is a guide for the safety production of mineenterprise. It can identify the abnormal phenomena and dangerous factors for tailing reservoir. Therefore, safety monitoring system is an important measure for getting command of theconditions of the reservoirs and guaranteeing their safety, which is of great value for themanagement of tailing reservoirs. We have a basic research on on-line safety monitoring system for tailing reservoir, andthe work is combine of the following parts:Introduce the present safety situation of tailing reservoir and the monitoring systems.Outline the importance of tailing reservoir monitoring and our goal of establishing amonitoring system with great effectiveness, accuracy, stability and simplicity, which may helpin getting command of the real-time condition of tailing reservoir and meeting the safetymanagement.Conclude the characteristics of tailing reservoir in China and the influential factors to itssafety, based on large amount of bibliographical information. The work offers a theoreticalsupport for establishing tailing reservoir monitoring system.Introduce the design principle, function, construction and lightningproof system for thereal-time monitoring system based on the industrial standards and manufacturingrequirements. Then describe the theory and framework of safety precaution of tailingreservoirs and establish a complete system based on Gaocheng tailing reservoir monitoringsystem.
