Study On Evaluation Of Rural Human Settlements’ Quality In The West Of Jilin Province

The research on conservation and reuse of historic building of the Victory Avenue inChangchun City is a long-term pragmatic project of my mentor’s and in which a part of itsproject design had I participated in. In this essay, the author is managing to discover theregion’s historical, cultural and artistic value embodied by the street and building space, inorder to provide a technical basis for the continuous research of old time street constructionand the extension of urban space.The Victory Avenue in Changchun City is located in the heart of the "ManchuriaRailway subsidiaries”. Its planning and construction opened the curtain of moderndevelopment in Changchun city and also formed the prototype of the new city. As the mostimportant street in the period of "Manchuria Railway", The Victory Avenue was viewed as amicrocosm of new development of Changchun, and it has witnessed the changes of the pastand the ups and downs in Changchun city for an entire century. As a historic district, theVictory Avenue has a distinguished main architectural feature of "Manchuria Railway"building and is a coexistence of diverse architectural style. The presence of these historicbuildings is civilized condensation of material and spiritual, integrity and continuity in thedevelopment of this area in the Changchun city, and its collision and fusion of Eastern andWestern cultures is a universal character represented in Chinese Modern Architecture.Nowadays, the historic building of Victory Street in Changchun City has sufferedvarying degrees of damage, so the protection for the integrity of the street is extremely urgent.The municipal government and Kuancheng District government take the scheme ofremodeling Victory Avenue a boutique district as a priority in2011and the preservationprogram reflects the serious attitude of the municipal government on the treatment of buildingleft over.In this article, historic buildings on the Victory Avenue in Changchun City was studiedfrom the point view of practical engineering, development process of modern Changchun aswell as the main points of the various processes of historical value. The building on theVictory Avenue was deeply analyzed with the gradually intensive research of the project, so asto interpret the shape and architectural style of Historic District on the Victory Avenue inChangchun City. The overall forms and protection of Historic District Chapter on VictoryAvenue were elaborated in the focus of the thesis from the spatial characteristics, architecturalstyle architectural space form, and overall characteristics and protection were elaborated fromthe functional classification, protection and re-use strategies of Historic Buildings on theVictory Avenue. The Victory Avenue and the Commercial Port street were connected together withnorthern-southern street formed the most significant street relationship in Changchun in thosedays. But nowadays, Victory Avenue connects Renmin Street and South Plaza as a bond ofhistoric preservation district, which will complete the connection of the two historicpreservation districts. So this project is of great significance to Victory Avenue protection.This is a study of multi-level architectural styles and different historical periods of newChangchun and also a serious thought of building-blocks-City as a research of the design onthe protection, restoration and reuse of Victory Avenue.
