Research On The Preservation And Utilization Of Historic Buildings From The Perspective Of Rational Planning Theory

The attitude of the urban history preservation has long been ‘deserved’,and few scholars explored the real reason and purpose of it.Even when we mentioned about problems like ‘Why Protection’,mostly just stayed in a statement of fact but no in-depth discussion.This lack of values of the history preservation often makes us confused to the process of the urban history preservation: Why do we want to spend a lot of manpower,financial and material resources to keep those urban heritage,and why the ancients rarely mentioned about the viewpoint like ‘historic conservation’?How to answer these questions is of great significance for us to carry out the urban history preservation work in the future.Only if we know where we started,we would be able to go further.This thesis will follow three parts to illustrate the characteristics of the urban history preservation movement: values,methodology and practice,which means‘passively beginning,rationally thinking and actively utilizing’.The first part is a review of history.By reviewing the history of urban development and the economic thoughts,I found the inevitability of the appearance of urban history preservation movement in the West——the destruction of capitalism and the industrial revolution subversive urban environment,forcing people to rethink the value of the urban history,and thus produced the urban history preservation movement.It is believed that the urban history preservation movement is a kind of‘passive response’ to the great damage to the city since the industrial revolution.The second part is to explore the methodology of urban history preservation.After comparing the history of urban history and urban planning theory,it can be concluded that the development of urban history preservation has become a rational planning activity.On this basis,I follow the core framework of rational planning to construct an analytical framework of the historic buildings.The third part is the practice of the urban history preservation.The analytical framework proposed by the second part will be used to explore the preservation and utilization of historic buildings.This is not only a theoretical framework for thepractice,but also by exploring the mode(‘active preservation mode’)for the preservation of historic buildings to answer the question of how to reasonably protect and utilize the historic buildings.
