It has been62years since the establishment of Liaoning Normal University in1951.. several generations of teachers and students have been upholding the schoolmotto of ‘being a model of virtue and eruditeness for others”, developing with times,working diligently, constantly striving to become better.. while we’re deliveringtalents continuously to society, years of accumulation has shaped the campus into aplace of environmental amenity, with good atmosphere of study and research.However, with the increased national investment in universities and resulting rapidexpansion.. many universities is increasingly facing the dilemma of limited facilitiesand spaces in order to accommodate increased number of students, increasednumber of students have a great clash with existing limited facilities and spaces, thisprompts expansion and reconstruction projects in many universities, When it comes tothese projects, the first step is always to consider how to redesign and renovate theexisting facilities and spaces.As one important part of the whole campus, the campus square is always of vitalsignificance.. At present there are many outstanding problems concerning the squaresof Liaoning Normal University:: chaotic traffic flow in the surrounding areas of thesquares, many randomly scattered little squares with poor design and substandardquality, lack of in-depth analysis and design about the external and internal spacesof the squares, not good enough to attract teachers and students to stay for a timeand have conversations comfortably.Thus, with the recent popularity of redesign and reconstruction, based on the realsituation of this campus, with the help of relevant theories on urban square andcampus design and planning, this article is focusing on campus squares design,research and analysis, with the aims of improving campus environment, improvingstudy and living conditions for students and teachers, promoting free and good qualityof communications.Against this backdrop, this article is going to be making analysis by3sections,The first section includes the chapter1and chapter2, starting with classificationand the content of each class of university campus squares, systematically analyzesthe different varieties, functionalities of the squares and the related impacts on the users.Then classifies the campus squares in Liaoning Normal University based onlocations, functionalities in a systematic way, at the same time, elaborates thecampus planning, geographic characteristics and humanity uniqueness of LiaoningNormal university, laying the foundation for the further researches；The2nd section, chapter III, first of all, defines design concept and decidesdesign methods of campus squares before systematically analyzes the differentiationof campus squares in Liaoning Normal University, thus provides a correct way ofredesigning campus squares..The3rd portion of this article, chapter4and chapter5,analyze the status quo of thecampus squares in Liaoning Normal University, in a comprehensive and systematicway, from2different angels: objective differentiation and subjective differentiation..summarizes the existing problems and tries to seek for possible solutions to each andevery problem.The construction and development of university campus and culture is a long-term,accumulative process, while bearing the historical cultures and traditions, it’s alsonecessary to adapt to the new government policies and ever-changing anddeveloping society.. this article is taking a specific look at the campus squares ofLiaoning Normal University, putting forward the point of views of the author to theexisting outstanding problems, and then trying to summarize and make conclusionsabout the design concepts and methods of campus squares in the new age.. at thesame time, hoping this article could be contributing modestly to the latter researcheson the same topics..
