Transportation is a complex social and civil factor, not exist in isolation. Thedevelopment and construction are connected with economic, environment, populationetc. With these information combined with road planning, design and daily management&maintenance, we can use computer information technology to build a traffic&transportation net able to meet the needs. All of these information depends on itsgeographic location, so the GIS application is indispensable in traffic informationconstruction. It not only provides an intuitive visualization, displaying, querying andcounting various information based on the geographical location, more importantly, itcan provide decision makers with support tools and basis. This article focuses on how to establish, based on GIS, urban road trafficinformation management system. With the basic theory of intelligent traffic technologyand space information technology as a guide, systematically it analyzed and studiedsuch a system of three main components: the composition and content of data, statisticalanalysis and data applications. The main content includes: the background of thesisresearch, the significance and domestic research status; system overview and demandanalysis;system frame and database processes; function and the main module design;project example of the system testing and result analysis; summary, analysis thedeficiencies and point out the direction of its future development and further neededresearch. This paper studies the urban road traffic information management system has beenin a city official operation, from the point of the effect of operation, is expected to reachthe design requirements and effect.
