When a part is designed in the traditional design method, it needs to check and changethe scheme again and again, it will waste much time and energy. So design the imitation plantgrowth algorithm by studying the plants’ phototropism and apply it to the process of themechanical design. It could realize the fast optimization design of the mechanical parts. Thentake the design of the gear reducer as an example and design the clients designing system totransport the machining information to the manufacture trading platform.Study the growth mechanism of the plants, especially the feature of phototropism, andwrite the optimization algorithm to realize the finding the optimal solution of the objectivefunction within the constraints. The imitation plant growth algorithm contains two parts, thefirst part focusing on a wide range of rough search, the second part focusing on the local finesearch. The two parts together could get the optimal solution as soon as possible. At the sametime, take the design of the gear reducer for example and build the machining models of theparts. Then establish the mathematical model of the parameters of the machining models, setthe minimum center to center distance as the optimal solution and apply the imitation plantgrowth algorithm to the gear reducer model to find the optimal solution. After finish writingthe program, run the program and adjust the relevant parameters in the algorithm to improvethe convergence speed and accuracy of the algorithm.Design the intermediate shaft’ structure basing on the result of the imitation plant growthalgorithm. Then build the machining model of the drive shaft and gear and design their clientsdesigning system using the MFC AppWizard model of the software Visual C++. Take theintermediate shaft as an example and input the machining information of the intermediateshaft to the clients designing system of the drive shaft. It will lead to a responding output file.The imitation plant growth algorithm is made from simulating the plant’s growth basedon the plant’s morphological structure characteristics under the photosynthesis. The algorithmcould find the optimal solution quickly and accurately. It could realize the fast design andoptimization of the gear reducer. The build of the clients designing systems of the drive shaftand gear could express the parts’ information on the design drawings and generate the files ofthe parts’ machining information.
