The Portable Cable Diameter Measuring Instrument

According to the demand of the detection of cable production line, this paper describes the designing principles of a portable cable diameter measuring instrument, which uses linear CCD as its sensor.This paper presents the design process of the portable cable diameter measuring instrument in detail. Based on the research status and measuring environment, the design specifications are set. This paper gives a detaild analysis of the working principle of CCD image sensor. Combining with linear CCD image sensor TCD1206UP,a driver circuit with a AVR microcontroller Mega16is designed which uses AD623as its preprocessing core, TLC5510as its AID convert core, IDT7204as its storage unit,4×4keyboard as its input device, LCD1206as its display device, and Mega128as the main processor of the measurement instrument.Dxperimental detection shows that this instrument can measure the diameter between lmm～30mm.Its measurement precision is smaller than0.01mm, and completely meets the initial design specifications.
