The rotary kiln is widely used in building materials, metallurgical and chemical industry. Its running state determines the production and cost of enterprises'products. In order to ensure normal operation of rotary kiln, it's necessary to test its operating condition Periodically, tire and wheel diameter measurement is an important part of the testing work. By measuring its diameter, you can not only detect the wear pattern, but also provide the necessary data for the detection and adjustment of the rotary kiln axis. In this paper, rotary kiln tire and wheel diameter measuring instrument are studied in detail.In this paper, the measuring instrument is introduced from both mechanical devices and data processing. The measuring device is designed as an instrument that based on the rolling-wheel method, the main structure has the following components. Rolling-wheel, rotates as the tested tire and roller contact with each other; swing mechanism, the pressure points and power transmission structure of the entire apparatus;steering, the vernier device allows the self-correcting of rolling-wheel position as the changes of measured objects; folder support agencies, to have the gauge and fixed pile fixed; the photoelectric encoder installed in the rolling-wheel axis, output series of pulses with the rotate of wheel axis; SCM system, process the encoder pulse signals,then calculate and display the measured diameter by software programs.Data collection and analysis are done by the SCM system implementation. As the photoelectric encoder measuring instruments is a key component, but also by its own internal electronic components sensitive to the use of the environment, accurately capture the pulse encoder signals is very important.In this paper, optical encoder measuring principle described in detail, and precision optical encoder impact factors are analyzed in detail. Consider to temperature factors, the use of high ambient temperature may exceed the withstand temperature of the encoder, in the case of measuring short time using high-temperature insulation materials will be wrapped to prevent outside temperature encoder rapid diffusion into the interior. Relate to vibration factors, rotary kiln is a long-term support, high torque, working at overload conditions and the vibration is common, in this paper,in order to ensure the reliability of the encoder output pulse, we do the research about the internal effect of vibration on the encoder design based on the principle of vibration of the counting circuit interference can effectively shield the optical encoder signal interference and vibration. According to the source of error, for effective elimination of the error count data acquisition by use the SCM procedures, further improve the measurement accuracy.This instrument is simple in structure.in meeting our requirements precision but with low-cost, easy to carry, easy to use so that it will be popular in market.
