Researches On External Space Design Of Waterfront Area Resort Hotels

With the rapid development of tourist industry, the quantity of resort hotels in tourism and resort zone increases sharply. The competition of resort hotels becomes more and more fierce. In order to meet the psychological demand of modern tourists for innovation, difference and curiosity, the architectural design of resort hotels focuses more on digging the essence of cultural resources and applying modern science and technology. And also the forms, appearance and surroundings of resort hotels directly influence their management, therefore various hotel forms emerge. Especially for waterfront areas, the harmonious blending of architecture and water would resonate easily with people.Chinese classical gardens put much attention on application of water, whether it is waterfront area or not, architectures always locate near water. As a special environmental region of all scenic areas, the waterfront areas become very important and popular for spending holidays and sightseeing in these years, and also have very high business value and good development foreground. Although there are a lot of true examples of waterfront hotels, little systematic discussion is presented. On this, the text hereunder will give a multi-angle analysis, conclusion and research. Especially the space design of architecture and water in waterfront areas is short of innovation and skills to adjust measures to local condition.This thesis firstly introduces development history of resort hotels and types of waterfront hotels, and analyses cases of waterfront resort hotels home and abroad. This thesis also defines phrases involved which concerns waterfront areas, and then probes into the space relationship between resort hotel and water, and analyses various space forms. Secondly, through researches on waterfront forms and architectural space relationship, it also summarizes waterfront architectural space. At last, by studying waterfront forms and architectural space relationship, it puts forward different space combination forms which bring diverse senses of place. This thesis will bring up some measures and enlightens for architectural space designers on resort hotels in waterfront areas.
