From the perspective of ecology, Urban Waterfront is the transition partbetween water ecosystems and urban terrestrial ecosystems, it’s the fragile andsensitive ecosystem. But the traditional rigid scenic belt makes environmentpollution, resource depletion and ecological imbalance in the wat erfront becomingincreasingly serious. People try to re-judge the planning and design of waterfrontlandscape with sustainable development principles at home and abroad. Conceptchanges from anti-natural anthropocentrism to ecocentrism and from blindlywesternization to the new idea of Let nature do work at home. The variationindicates the eco-trend of construction of waterfront landscape.Li County in Hunan Province has a population of880000. The total area is2107.3square kilometers. The Li River Scenic Belt (from the easternmost of YangHukou Pumping Station to the westernmost of Zhang Gongmiao Bridge)is up to21.7km,it means a lot to urban environment with its self-purificationcapacity,environment-friendly plants and micro-climate adjustment. Both theory andpractice are included in this paper to explore the eco-way to construct waterfrontlike landscape ecology, environmental ecology and plant ecology.According to the Environmental Ecology, this paper try to explore the way toimprove environmental quality and prevent the pollution of air, water and soil fromthree aspects including the rational use of natural resources, environmentalprotection and sustainable utilization of resources. According to the Plant Ecology, plants of the planning have been grouped by species, ecological configuration andenvironmental features. It helps plants to maximize the improvement ofenvironmental quality in the limited space. According to the Landscape Ecology, the study uses the "patch-corridor-matrix" model to analyze and improve theplanning of Li River Scenic Belt. Through field visits and analysis, the landscapeelements of the planning is grouped into waters, wetlands, sandy beaches and greenspaces, buildings, squares. In order to investigate the reachability of Scenic area, four types of Traffic road is differentiate as the pedestrian trails, bike paths, roadways. To discuss the planning of the ecological quality of the green belt area,Identify green corridors in Scenic area of9. Respectively do the element analysisof patch system, scenic transportation corridor system, scenic green corridor system. After the analysis of landscape pattern indices by data from the planning,we get the results. Artificial landscape accounts for1.26%, artificial naturallandscape accounts for more than30.42%, the landscape diversity index is0.4144,the Landscape fragmentation is0.018, the Landscape evenness index is0.5326, theLandscape dominance index is0.4674, Landscape fractal dimension indexes are allclose to1, connectivity index of transportation corridor is0.5333, connectivityindex of green corridor is0.75. The results show that the construction of Li RiverScenic Belt will do little harm to landscape ecological pattern of Waterfront.Though distributed evenly, Landscape patches make the focal points stand out. Theanti-interference ability of ecological system will be improved. Landscapediversity is not good enough, it indicates that the water attractions should beimproved.
