Planning And Design Of Urban Fringe Waterfront Landscape In Taipei—based On Ecological Restoration

With global climate changing and urban sprawling, variety kinds of environmental issues have become increasingly prominent. According to this situation, it needs more consideration of local ecological characteristics and the environmental capacity in site planning and design process. This project is located in the waterfront of the northern shoreline of Shetzu Island, which is a typical urban fringe area in Taipei City. Though the site has great ecological condition, it still has many issues, such as economically backward, weak infrastructure.This paper focuses on the waterfront landscape design in the city edge, analyzes optimization of ecological investigations, develops research and planning practice. Seeking from literature review, case study, field study, and research status of ecological optimization of urban waterfront landscape both at home and abroad, providing the reference for ecological optimization planning research and design in northern coast of Shetzu Island by analyzing the classic cases.Based on ecological optimization, the planning and design of the waterfront landscape in the north shoreline of Shetzu Island in Taipei uses "deep ecology", "anti-planning theory" as research and planning theory. According to local climate, hydrology, natural resources and other related environmental conditions, it uses ecological, holistic development, local characteristics, functional diversity and sustainable development as design principles.By ecological restoration of revetment, farmland experiencing landscape reclamation, establishment of intertidal ecology buffers and many other methods to protect landscape ecological pattern, construct green infrastructure, and practice ecological corridor planning of the waterfront in urban fringe area. With the economic, cultural and ecological advantages in urban waterfront landscape, it makes the flow water as ecological conservation and development of leisure industry, which will bring new lives to the project. In summary, this paper aims to provide reference for future planning and design of waterfront landscape in urban fringe area.
