Developed countries and regions often provide advanced financial andtechnology aids to developing areas. Also, they always appointed a lot of designers tohelp design buildings. They are the so-called foreign aid buildings, which are almostpublic ones. Their features and importance make them challenging to designers.Because different countries have different natural and cultural environment, foreignaid buildings are easy to be regarded as imported substance. It is one of the mostsignificant standards to make them localized. Therefore, we should design foreign aidbuildings from different angles. This paper consists of eight chapters:The first unit is introduction. In this unit, we describe the reasons why we choosethis title, research purpose, meanings, frame and methods. Besi des, we introduceseveral successful research projects and delimit the research scope. In the second unit, we discuss the policies about the construction of foreign aidbuildings in our country, including their development and methods. Policies make agreat influence on their design and construction ways.As it is said in the third unit, it is vital to localize foreign aid buildings. Wedescribe its reasons, design features and nature. In the fourth units, we make it clear that environment has great impact on foreignaid buildings, especially the local climate and the use of building material. In the fifth units, cultural factors influent building material very much. The localculture and imported culture both impact their design and construction. In the sixth units, we describe that policy greatly impacts on foreign aidbuildings in terms of political intention and press. We use several real projects as our research examples in the seventh units. Weintroduce their design process and our thoughts toward localization. Finally, the thesis put forwards the research conclusion and the needs for futureexploration.
