Coastal and estuary regions are the complex zone at the border of ocean and land, and ittend to have lots of island. The nearshore have a large of population, developed economic andboundary ocean resource. To make full use of the ocean resource, actions in the coastal andestuary area must based on the realization of the environment of this region and the study oftide current, waves and sediment transport affected by coastal engineering. The Shipu portwith many island and complex coast is researched in this paper. By analyzing the naturalconditions and coastal evolution, physical model and mathematical model are used to studyflow and sediment of the waterway engineering in Shipu port. The main works accomplishedin this paper are as follows:(1) According to the data of flow, wave, sediment, terrain and substrate, thehydrodynamic conditions and topographical features in Shipu port are analyzed.(2) In accordance with the feature of many islands area, a2-D tidal flow, wave, sedimenttransport mathematical model based on irregular triangular grid is set up, and then the tidalflow and sediment feature are analyzed.(3) After the project is carried out, the feature of tidal flow field at the Shipu port isanalyzed from fluidity, tide levels and volume, flow velocity and direction as well as splitratio.(4) The siltation intensity in waterway at the condition of normal year and Morakottyphoon is studied.(5) A physical model is established, and then the change of flow field, sediment field andsiltation condition before and after project are researched. The study in this paper, not only provide evidence for the waterway engineering in Shipu port, but also extend to the other sea areas with the similar hydrodynamic environment, so it showsthat the above studies are rather universal.
