The working medium inside the safety valve for nuclear island of nuclear power plant isusually radioactive. Consequently, the working characteristics of its assorted safety valve aremore rigorous than the ones assorted for the thermal power plant. Except for the normalworking characteristics (actuating accuracy, blow down, sealing performance, mechanicalperformance and capacity), the seismic resistance is also required. As the3rd generationadvanced pressurized water reactor, the AP1000requires better performance. Only Dresser co.Ltd. and Crosby co. Ltd. are able to provide the Main Steam Safety Valve for AP1000nuclearpower plants. This article focuses on researching the technical plans, product performances and keytechnologies for the assorted Main Steam Safety Valve for AP1000nuclear power plants.Apart from using the normal manual calculating methods to calculate the intensity, ANSYS,the finite element software is also used to analyze the stress, sealing performance and seismicresistance, and to make sure the intensity and natural frequency meet the requirements of theAP1000plant.To ensure the performance of AP1000Main Steam Safety Valve, first use the finiteelement software to build simulating analysis model. Next, under the set pressure andworking temperature, simulate the actual working conditions to analyze its dynamicperformance, including the pressure field and temperature field when the valve is rechargingand the speed field when the valve is full opened. Meanwhile, analyze the open height andverify the capacity, to ensure its dynamic performances meet the working requirements of theAP1000nuclear power plants.
