Street is both the “skeleton” and “context” of a city, and also is the public externalspace in a city. Street bears not only the communication function of the traffic and life,but also is the most active place in a city. Such atmosphere of life in a city often willbe ignored out because of the data and analysis such as number of managementsignificance of the method in process of urbanization. At the same time, therequirement for rapid development,“copy” is a fastest way to achieve. As the result,street’s space that should be colorful and diverse become a transport functional andboring monotonous space after planning.In this thesis we hope to resolve the place’s issue in Guangzhou township streetspaces by phenomenological method. With the analysis of the structure andcharacteristics of the street space as well as the reflections of local residents’construction practices, the psychological needs of people’s living space were analyzedand then return to the thinking on the relationship between people and street space.The first part of the thesis, through the Guangzhou area township streets formation ofspace and its influencing factors are discussed briefly from the original formation ofthe street, to the evolution of the major historical periods street space, from theanalysis of the formation of the township streets of Guangzhou, and summarizenatural, economic, cultural three main influencing factors.
