Steel truss bridge is a widely-used structure in a variety of bridges, it owns manyadvantages, for example, it has a strong spanning capacity, it’s easy to transport andsuitable for industrial manufacture. But the maintenance work of some old steel bridgescan not be ignored. Damage cracks, corrosion and other diseases have a serious impacton the bearing capacity and life of the old steel bridge. In this paper, taking the oldsimply supported steel truss bridge in Guangzhou—Haizhu Bridge’s overhaulingconstruction as an engineering background, we describe the construction technologyand construction monitoring of steel truss bridge, making the simulation analysis on themechanical properties of side-span steel truss and mid-span promotion hanger inconstruction stage. At the same time, the measured values and the analytical ones arecompared. The main work is completed as follows:1、Describes the paper background and the overview of Haizhu Bridge.Summarizes the disease situation and the corresponding repairing and strengtheningmeasures of the steel bridge.2、Discusses the mechanical structure and analytical methods on the mechanicalproperties of steel truss bridge. The composition of the steel truss bridge, the drawingchoices and the dimensions of the main truss are described to affect the mechanicalproperties; Summarizes the research status on mechanical properties of steel trussbridge, describes the mechanical simulation method used in bridges and in this paper.3、Summarizes overhauling construction methods of the Haizhu bridge. First,several steel truss bridge construction methods are discussed; Then describes the sideand mid-span structures, overhauling process and main points based on the information.4、Using the finite element software MIDAS/CIVIL2010, establishes a side-spansteel truss and mid-span promotion hanger models, divides the overhauling constructionconditions. The mechanical properties in each component are obtained by analyzing mthe construction conditions, ensures that the strength requirements are met. Identifiesthe position of needed monitoring members, which provides a reference for the nextconstruction monitoring.5、Summarizes construction monitoring first, then describes the monitoringinstrument selection and stress monitoring methods of the Haizhu Bridge. Finally,measured values and the analytical ones are compared, which are both in goodagreement; Stress curve is stable, indicating the rational use of overhauling methodsand the secure process; Forces in the transverse direction are good, without mutation.
