"Transformation" In The Context Of The Relevant Characteristics Of Residential Design

Guanzhong plain in Shaanxi province has always enjoyed the reputation of “vastQinchuan”. As the important part of architecture culture in Central Plains, the houses inGuanzhong have a long history. The special geography and long cultural history decide that itis improtant on research of architectural history. Since the reform and opening up, much haschanged in ways of living、family struture、construction technologies of country in Guanzhong,aspire of villagers in spiritual life and material life are more and more similar as citizens,transition of country houses has been an inevitable current. However, because of the countryhouses coustruction in Guanzhong which is stocked、designed、constructed by themselves, somany problems occurred such as dull style、dysfunctional、lack of characteristic.The paper is based on the residential buildings with yard in Guanzhong, and the researchpointcut is the essence of traditional residential houses in Guanzhong and the constructiontroubles of current residential houses. The tpaper troduces the natural ecological characters、the social and cultural features and the evolvement process of residential houses inGuanzhong. And the paper analyzes and summarizes systematically the traditional houses andcurrent construction condition in Guanzhong from the ways of function and constitution、spatial and scale、structure and material and decoration in details. Thirdly, start with theessential character of the transition from tradition to contemporary of residential houses inGuanzhong, the paper analyzes the dominant factor of transition of residential houses and theaffection of space of residential houses made by the dominant factor, and explains theproblems existed in the contruction of residential houses in Guanzhong on the background of“transition” for providing revelation to the design of unique residential houses in Guanzhong.From the research of typical cases such as “Ju’r Hutong in Beijing”、“father’s house”、“WellHall”, the paper analyzes and summarizes the revelation of the residential houses in theprocess of design and creation, including continuation of features and texture of traditionalresidential houses、reappearance of proportion and scale of the space of traditional residentialhouses、refining of traditional elements and symbol.On the base of this theory, the paper has presented the design method and strategy ofuniuqe residential hosues in Guanzhong. And based on the research of design method of courtyard space、function space and lacal features, the paper constitutes separately a optimaldesign method to adapt to the residential houses where people work with different modes ofproduction in Guanzhong.
