Smart Home is defined as a computer system with all sorts of devices installed in user’shouse, which can provide user with fast, convenient and comfortable living environment.Infrared transponder is an important part of Smart Home, in order to develop infraredtransponder in Smart Home Based on ZigBee wireless network,which can provide unifiedcontrol of infrared type electrical appliances such as television and air-condition, the paperresearches intensively on ZigBee technology and infrared technology and design an infraredtransponder.The paper researches ZigBee protocol stack and infrared remote control technology. Firstly, selectsthe ZigBee communication as the way of Smart Home communication after analyzed andcompared a variety of short distance wireless communication technology, establishes theoverall solution of Smart Home based on requirements. Analyzes the principle of infraredremote control technology, the four layer structure of ZigBee protocol stack and the role ofeach layer, establish a theoretical foundation for implementation of infrared transponder.Secondly, select the PIC18F2420for MCU based on functional requirements whichproduced by Micro-Chip company, select1838integrative infrared remote control receiver asinfrared receive device, triode2N5551as infrared transmitting driver, SST25VF016B asmemory chip for storing infrared code. Design the infrared transponder schematic diagramand implement hardware circuit of infrared transponder. Then implement the program ofinfrared transponder using C programming language with MPLAB IDE and picc18compiler.The program is coded according to structured programming thought, the programaccomplishes the function of receive the order from gateway and does infrared self-learning,remote control, delete, indicate function, such as serial port communicate, infrared emission,infrared receiving, data storage, protocol parsing.Finally, test the infrared transponder by building a testing platform in the laboratory.During function module test, compare with infrared emission and receive, test data storage,data communication, protocol parsing. In overall test, control air-condition in our laboratorywith infrared transponder. The results show that the infrared transponder meets theexpectation, has high theoretical and practical value and lays a good foundation for the further research and application.
