Application Research On Psychological Elements In Campus Landscape Design

Recent years mark the rapid development of education industry in China, whichleads to a bunch of restoration and expansion of the old campuses. More emphasis oncampus landscape design is required as dramatic changes are emerging along with theincreasing scale and scope of university construction, i.e. it is the demand from bothteachers and students on campus that matters in the specified situation as studied in thethesis. The thesis starts with an overall general on university environment, beforemoving on to study the particular psychological demands rising form the subjects withinthe environment so as to probe into the application of psychological elements in campuslandscape design.With a combined methodology of theoretical research and case analysis, the thesissets forth from the psychological elements of specified subjects within the universityenvironment, identifies three key research objectives and elaborates on their interactiverelationship, namely psychology, behavior and environment. The problem is raised thathow to realize truly human oriented design on the space environment of university tocater to the various demands from massive subjects and meanwhile in line with theprinciple of education for all-round development. Thus the thesis makes due theoreticalanalysis on the problem and simultaneously picks out several universities for surveyconduction, employing convincing case study to support the analysis.The thesis gives a brief on environmental psychology and the relevant theories and a comparison over university landscape environment and campus form evolutions homeand aboard, before probing into the psychological features of university subjects againstdifferent environmental backdrops with varied cultures of different regions. Aftertentative analysis on the ideal psychological format of university students, the thesiscomes up with a university environment landscape that is conducive to the basicdemands for study and life from both students and teachers, unique in the sense ofuniversity spirit, and favorable for communications and emotional exchanges.
