Research On The Space Morphology Of Historical Commercial District Based On Space Syntax Analysis

Historical commercial district continue to evolve with the changes in thecity’s, it has its own unique architectural forms, spatial form and the businessenvironment. Study of the historic district in the past is often limited to asingle building and material space, ignored the "structural" historical value ofthe street space. On the basis of traditional research methods, the introductionof new space research methods—space syntax, combined with the support ofmathematical model, quantitative description and analysis of the history ofXiamen Zhongshan Road commercial district spatial form, analysis theinternal logic of the blocks spatial structure characteristics, in order toprovide the technical support for the cultural heritage and sustainabledevelopment of the Zhongshan Road commercial district.The paper consists of three parts. the first part is the basic theory whichsketches the object of study, research purposes, methods, and studycharacteristics. For the use of Space syntax on blocks spatial forms, elaboratesegmentation method of space、syntax variables, lay the theoretical foundationfor the paper of instance analysis.The second part is the core part of the article which analyzes the spaceshape of Xiamen Zhongshan Road commercial district through three aspects:overall space shape, streets and node space shape. Each aspects is divided intotwo parts, both qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative research, is anoverview of the different levels blocks spatial form, pointed out the basicmorphological characteristics. Quantitative research, using the Space syntaxand Depthmap software to analyze the three aspects of block’s space shape.By the interpretation of the parameters of the integration, the averagedepth,the control value, designed to reveal the evolution of the law of theblocks spatial patterns and forecast its future development trends,as well asthe inherent characteristics of the structure of street space and node space.Finally, to summarize the contents of the analysis, come to differentaspects of the blocks space characteristics.Combined with the lack of thisstudy.
