Steel structure residence is a worthful structural form for modern residence todevelop. It has many adavantages that the RC structure lacks off. With the developmentof economy and the increase of the steel products of our country, steel structureresidence can be built successfully in a short time and the building procedure is energysaving and natural environment protecting,it can also provide a high quality livingenvironment,more and more people are glad to build their housing by steel structure. Inorder to improve the building level of the steel structure residence and provide a morefavorable environment for the development of steel structure residence,we should havea more clearing understanding to the seismic performance and economic characteristicsof the steel structure residence.This paper analyses the seismic performance and the economic properties of puresteel frame structure,steel frame brace structure and steel frame-concrete core tubestructure. Tasks of the analysis are the static analysis and dynamic analysis. Acomparation of the economic properties between the steel structure residence and theRC structure residence are finished.The seismic performance of structure usually includes structures under frequentlyearthquake with linear state and structures under rarely eartnquake with nonlinear state.The paper has finished the response spectrum analysis,pushover analysis,dynamicelastic time-history analysis and dynamic elastic-plastic tim-history analysis of threestructures. Getting the performance state of three structures in frequently earthquake andrarely earthquake.The structural local property can influence the seismic properties of wholestructure. The paper analyses the influence of semi-rigid connections between beam andcolumn to the seismic performance of pure steel frame structures,it also analyses theinfluence of the length of energy-saving beam to the seismic performance ofeccentrically steel fram structure.The economic performance of structure usually includes the direct cost and thecomprehensive benefits during the construction and living. The paper compared thedirect cost and comprehensive benefits of steel structure residence and reinforcedconcrete structure residence. The results indicates that the steel structure residence has awell developing prospects.
