As a kind of key component for high-ride and super-high building structures, shear walls’ performance-based design puts forward higher requirement for itsperformance evaluation. The traditional damage models to evaluate components’performance often based on macroscopic or apparent parameters such asdisplacements and cracks. Generally speaking, they’re not only lack of clearphysical significance but also too dependent on particular experimental results, the evaluating results are not stable as well. Components’ damage modelsestablished from material damage on the other hand reflect the reasons ofperformance’s deterioration thus have clear physical significance. Starting formmaterial damage makes damage models’ evaluation on components’ performacemore accurate, widely feasible and stable. Components’ damage models based onmesoscopic material damage also realize the informational transfer of damagefrom scales of materal to components. In this thesis, factors that influence shear walls and coupling beams’performance were discussed. Components’ classification based on variousmaterial damage statuses was given as well. Then the qualitative and quantitativerelationships between development of material damage and deterioration ofcomponents’ performance were established, and components’ damage models ineach damage status were proposed.Numerical simulations about shear walls and coupling beams’ pseodo-statictests when factors like aspect ratio and shear-span ratio were changing areconducted, and the factors’ influences on components’ seismic performance wereinvestigated in terms of skeleton curves and strain’s distribution. Via comparisonwith existing experimental results, reliability of FEM simulations was verified.Through analysis and summarizing staged characteristics of materialdamage’s development, various damage statuses were given, as well ascomponents’ classification based on the statuses. Thereby a qualitativerelationship between stage developments of material damage and components’performance were established.By defining damage indicators which represent damage’s developingprocesses, mesoscopic damage information was transformed. Based on materialdamage’s staged development reflected by the indicators, components’performance stages are delimited. Through indicator’s processing, components’damage indices were calculated and thus damage models were established andsimplified as well. The evaluating results were testified. The damage models of shear walls establiahsed from mesoscopic materialdamage realized informational transfer of damage from scale of material tocomponents. The accuracy, stability and wide feasibility of these models areverified.
