Water as one of the important roles to human being. People rely on and yearn for water.Many architects and landscape designers also utilize water to design and creat outside spaceenvironment. The waterfront is nourished abundant eco-natural resources and human culturallandscape. It can creat a charming and nice environment. It is regarded as the place wherepeople live,work and relax. In addition, it may affect the formation of local culture and climaticcondition. Wetland is a special waterfront environment and it is called the the kidney of theecosystem. The facilities close to water is the most important in numerous design elements ofriverside environment,.The facilities close to river wetlands is mainly analyzed and studied in this paper,.Through defining the concept of architectural hydrophilicity, behavior close to water, activitiesclose to water, water-enjoyed space and facilities close to water, the theory basis about thedesign of facilities close to water, the design principles and the primary facilities close to water,as well as the design ideas and methods are summarized.The author argues that the aims todesign the facilities close to water is to satisfy different needs of people in different waterfrontenvironment.Taking the design of Lianjiang wetland park in Jiangxi Province as an example, this paperprimarily studies the facilities close to river in the park. The specialities of the water activitiesin wetlands have been analyzed, the contents of facilities close to river and the distribution ofspace have been discussed. Then the principles have been concluded. When designing thefacilities close to water, they should help tourists to know and appreciate the landscapes ofwetland, but not to disturb or destroy the ecological environment and the line of sight as muchas possible. The basic design principles are proposed and are tested in practice.
