This paper mainly discusses how environmental psychology useful theoretical content ofwhich is applied to the actual environment construction. Because thesis topic to the publicsquare as a combination of points, therefore, reflected in this article is how the theory is appliedto the contents of the public square in the building, the public square in the design should paymore attention to what content than before, so that this type of public square environmentalDesign able to produce more positive results people.The main research article is divided into two parts, namely the existing environmentalpsychology theory and the status of the public square design. Structure is divided into six parts,namely, introduction, environmental psychology theory of cognition, the public square of thecorrelation of cognitive, environmental psychology applied to members of the public squaredesign, case evaluation and conclusions.Articles by studying the relevant parts of the theoretical knowledge and the status quo,and the combination of both, specifically pointed out how the theory is applied to the actualdesign, how to convert and alternative. Finally come full to the conclusion that in the part ofenvironmental psychology theory is fully capable of guiding the design of the public square,perception theory to help designers understand way people perceive the environment andresults, behavioral and environmental aspects of the relationship between theory and specificdesign elements can be combined to create different levels of privacy, space and territorialspace, and recognizability of the site’s shape, internal activities to the public in the square whenthe safety protection. Environmental psychology theories involved in the design of the publicsquare after a more detailed perspective to meet the needs of the public square, enhance publicplaza satisfaction.
