With the development of transportation, china has become the country which has thelargest number of tunnel with the most complex construction and fastest developingspeed. Because of easy traffic accidents, hazard degree, processing difficulty, tunnel iscalled the bottleneck of expressway network. Through the analysis of the characteristicsand causes of traffic accidents on expressway tunnel, we know that the traffic accidenton tunnel has the relationship with the visual environment of tunnel and the drivers. But,as everyone knows, the driver mainly relies on the visual system to obtain trafficinformation. Therefor, study on driver’s visual characteristics and visual securitytechnology to improve the tunnel operation safety is very important.Firstly, based on the resarch of traffic environment characteristics on tunnel, trafficcharacteristics and the driver’s dynamic visual feature, we haver analyzed the basic formand evaluation method of the driver’s eye movement, designed driver’s eye movementexperiment in tunnel.Secondly, using Smart Eye Pro5.7non-intrusive eye tracker records the driver eyemovement parameters in the process of tunnel entrance section, internal tunnel section,tunnel exit section and general section. And analysis of the driver’s eye movementchange rules in the process of running in each section base on the eye movementparameters such as fixation duration, fixation percentage of fixation time, averagefixation duration, pupil diameter, injection angle, gaze position distribution.Thirdly, through the analysis of the different sections of the driver’s eye movementpattern, established the driver’s fixation point vertical distance calculation model. Andthen regard pupil diameter ratio as the driver’s visual suitability evaluation index. Andthrough the statistical analysis of the driver’s eye movement parameters, we haveobtained driver’s visual suitability evaluation reference standard. The driver’s visualsensitivity sections of the tunnel were calculated.Finally, based on the analysis of tunnel sections of driver’s eye movement rule, put forward the basic ideas of contour standard application of inverse reflection theory tothe safety of tunnel vision. The basic principle and key factors according to theinfluence of the retroreflective inverse reflection effects, design of retroreflectivecontour standard simulation test, analyzes different retroreflective contour standarddriver’s visual characteristic of design parameters, and ultimately to the driver’s visualsuitability for the evaluation standard, determine the retroreflective contour set up thetechnical scheme of driver’s visual security based on.
