With the development of transport, as well as the continuous progress of human production and living standards, construction of road tunnel has also experienced rapid growth all over the world. Especially in our country, China has become one of the countries with the fastest growing and longest channels in the world after Reform and Opening-up. However, the highway tunnel entrance is the bottleneck of traffic, at the same time, it is very likely to form accident black spots, the accident rate of the tunnel at the entrance is2-3times higher than other general sections. The tunnel entrance is in the transition period of two driving environment, sudden changes of visual environment and traffic environment will increase the driver’s visual mental and physical load, and then apt to cause traffic accidents. And the tunnels are mostly built in the mountain areas, then the curve is often inevitable, the complexity of the linear is more likely to lead to traffic accidents occur frequently. Therefore it is need to take effective measures to improve the security situation of our tunnel entrance.Paper use a number of tunnel data both at home and abroad, through analysis of the environmental characteristics of the tunnel entrance, traffic flow movement characteristics of the driving process and the spatial distribution, time distribution, the morphology and the reason of the accident the tunnel entrance of the accident, nail down the current safety situation of the tunnel and the main factors caused the tunnel entrance accidents. Then, defines driver’s visual load from the perspective of visual psychology, and analysis factors that related to driver’s visual load. Based on human information processing theory, paper establishes the theoretical model of the driver’s visual load. By studying the relationship between the conversion duration for visual turbulence and the driver’s visual load, paper sets up the classification threshold of visual load based on the conversion duration for visual turbulence. Finally, from the point of view of linear consistency, establishes the linear transition of the tunnel entrance technical indicators, as well as the relationship model of the driver’s visual load, geometrie design consistency and the speed; through security the visual load evaluation criteria which based on the conversion duration for visual turbulence obtains a linear indicators suggested value of imports based on the visual load of tunnel. Paper proposes a driver visual load of tunnel entrance line security evaluation criteria in theory, which has a certain complementary role to the existing road project safety evaluation guide In addition, can provide new scientific evidence to check the accident black spots, optimize tunnel design, and to ensure road safety.
