Concrete arch bridge has been a main bridge type for a long time. Currently, thelargest span reinforced concrete arch bridge is in china——Wanzhou Yangtze RiverBridge, which completed in1997. However, the self weight of concrete arch bridgeincreases with the increase of span.Arch bridge belongs to Pressing-bending Component whlie shear does not act ascontrol factor.Webs acconted for30%of the entire cross secton. How to decreaseself-weight of arch ring is the key for increase the span. The corrugated steel webssubstitute for conventional concrete webs in this new bridge type, which decreaseself-weight of arch ring, reduce concrete for casting in webs and save construction time.It is a good alternative for super-long span concrete arch bridge.Then, taking Mupeng bridge as prototype, the trial bridge design is carried out. Itsmechanical behavior is evaluated by the calculation of FEM software. It shows that theself weight can be decreased compared with the original bridge, the axial force isreduced and construction period is shortened effectively.Cantilever irrigating construction is in the trail design bridge. The internal force anddeformation of the arch ring during the every construction stage are calculated. Theresults indicate that the amout of steel strand is decreased compared with the originalbridge.Comparision is made on stud connector、embbeding connector and PBL connectorin ultimate bearing capacity、fatigue property and performance in construction. Then,the results show that PBL connector shows the best comprehensive performance. Thistype of connector is recommended in the trail design bridge. The PBL fitting the trailbridge is designed and calculated, and then the results meet the requirements ofmechanical.
