Plant Disposition In The Design Of Modular Green Wall In Shanghai

Shanghai World Expo2010presented the green wall to the public. The vibrant green wall covers a limited space, while it plays an important role in afforesting, decorating city, improving environment, reducing dust, cleaning air, and adjusting temperature, etc. The green wall is very popular. In order to study the plant configurations in the design of Shanghai modular green wall, the study researched and analyzed the data on the type of green wall plants, the form of afforestation, the overwintering rate of plants, the drought resistance, the growth potential, the landscape effect and other aspects by field research. After comparing4typical forms of green wall in Shanghai, the study found that the most-used modular green wall got the highest comprehensive price at this stage. Based on the research data, the study eliminated15plants which were not suitable for Shanghai modular green wall from the total65plants. And the study concluded the demands and standards of the materials of modular green wall. Sifting through the botanical green wall styles and green plant materials in Shanghai, a thearetical support for Shanghai green wall design is offered. A good plant configuration can maximize the ecological benefit. Landscape effect, economical benefit and social benefit. Therefore the tropical island effect is truly improved. By analyzing the cases of the green walls of the Theme pavilions of Shanghai World Expo2010, the green walls of the Baogang Stage and the green walls of France pavilions, the study put forward the design principles of modular green wall, summarize the modular configuration of green wall plants which are suitable for Shanghai. Finally, the study pointed out the disadvantages of present modular green wall, and suggested the research direction of the modular green wall.
