The Localization Interior Design Research Of The Seating Cabins Of Chinese High Speed Train

The high-speed train as a highly efficient, energy-saving modernization of publictransport, it is of great significance for China’s economy, social, environment, and people’straveling. This paper first describes and analyzes the socio-economic background of thedevelopment of high-speed trains, then summarizes their development and current designsituation to put forward the urgency and importance of Chinese high-speed trains’ designlocalization. Then, this paper analysis some related concepts about local design and itscurrent research situation, including the related concepts of localization and globalization;the meaning and characteristics of local culture; and the local design in the vision ofglobalization. After this, this paper analysis the current status and the presence of localdesign issues, then propose that the local design should be divided into three different levels:symbolic layer, meaning layer as well as the concept layer, and emphasize that local designshould be based on people’s needs. At the same time, this paper analysis the traditionalcultural identity in the local culture, different geographical cultural identity, the culturalcharacteristics of the times, as well as these local cultural factors’ influence on the design.Based on this, this paper propose that the local design should have the global vision, root inour local national situation and people’s needs, and use the cultural elements reasonably.Afterwards, this paper analysis the interior design features of Chinese and foreignhigh-speed trains’ seating cabins, including concluding the design elements of seatingcabins, developing history and other related design factors of Japanese Shinkansen, FrenchTGV and Germany ICE. Meanwhile, making a compare between Chinese high-speed trainand foreign to find out the current existing interior design problems of Chinese high-speedtrains’ seating cabins. Follow this, based on these research, this paper make an analysis onpassengers’ needs, including different passengers’ needs and their needs layers, meanwhile,analysis people’s behavior, posture as well as their ergonomic scale when they are in theseating cabins. Then this paper do some field research of passengers’ needs in the seatingcabins of high-speed trains which running in the line of Shanghai to Nanjing and Beijing toShanghai to collect and analysis related data to conclude our passengers’ practical needs.Finally, this paper put forward some local design strategies about the seating cabins of ourhigh-speed trains, including that the overall design style of seating cabins should meet theour local cultural characteristics, in other words the design should meet local aesthetics andreflect the geographical culture; the spatial layout design of seating cabins should be basedon our real situation to set flexibly; the chair design should improve passengers’comfortable and private sensation and meet passengers’ emotional needs; the seatsurrounding ancillary facilities should be designed and set personalized depending ondifferent passengers’ needs; the color design of seating cabins should accord to our localcolor aesthetic concepts. This paper ultimately expects to be able to provide some help forthe future Chinese high-speed trains’ design research and practice.
