| As the whole world has been accelerating globalization and consumption economy hasbeen developing very fast since2000, Western architects have great impact on Chinesearchitectural culture with their works in China as a carrier, leading to the changes inChinese architectural culture. This paper aims at gradually showing a definite developmenttrend of Chinese architectural culture in the new era by studying its changes.Firstly, in order to solve the problem of abstract and complexity in Westernarchitectural culture, a creative stratification analysisis is made on four aspects of physicaland cognitive schemas, space and scene, materials and construction, and symbols andconcepts to explore the part from numerous and complex phenomena in Westernarchitectural culture, which spreads to China and has profound impact on Chinesearchitectural culture. Secondly, an empirical study, including horizontal study andlongitudinal study, is conducted on two typical urban areas in China where there are themost works of Chinese and Western architects: Shanghai Lujiazui area and BeijingBusiness Central District, which are selected by utilizing the statistical process:. In thispaper, a comparative approach is taken to study the corresponding changes from2000to2012of these two areas where architecture is under the most profound influence of Westernarchitectural culture, from the aspects of physical cognition, space scene, materials,construction, and symbols and concepts, to reveal intuitively the spread and impact ofWestern architectural culture on Chinese architectural culture. Lastly, a bold prediction ismade on the future development trend of Chinese architectural culture.Through the case study of the changes in Chinese architectural culture in ten years, aneffective and profound revelation is made timely to Chinese modern architectural culturethat is undergoing profound change so as to provide some references for exploring themechanism of the integration of Chinese and Western architectural culture. |
