Since the eighties of the last century, China’s economy began to take off, theurbanization of towns has been accelerated with the rapid increase of the urbanpopulation. Industrialization and state-of-the-art technology has brought a lot ofmaterial wealth to the Chinese people, but also crowded, dirty, cold cities as well.As a country with its population accounting for one-fifth of the world’s population, the healthy development of the urban environment has become a topic of growingconcern in China. In the meantime, the design sector of the developed countries hasalso gong through some quiet changes, it is no longer the pursuit of internationalmodernism with gradual esthetic fatigue of monotonous, rigid glass curtain wallconstruction, instead, designers are again exploring a new style of modernismwhich can replace the prevailing modernism. In the context of these thoughts somepeople have called for the construction of urban landscape with their regional stylesor features. Many of the designers from the different countries are striving to showthe cultural connotation of their places of birth in their own works, and China is noexception. The process of modernization in China has recently started, since peoplehave been tired of the urban pattern with" thousands of cities of same face ". Peoplehave begun to miss those disappearing civilizations and new exploration has begunthroughout China at present. However, when we look at the road map in pursuit of the urban landscape withthe localized features, we have realized that countries are featured with their owngeographical, cultural conditions, it is very difficult to design technical methodswith the unified theory, so people just insist on their own views and the true fact isthat the previous times can always be summarized clearly and logically, however, people really have different opinions on the development trend of the contemporaryurban landscape. This thesis aims at looking at the dozens of national andinternational urban landscape or architectural projects with their geographicalfeatures to sum up the twelve regional design work evaluation factors with theintention to be able to play a positive role for the future development of regionalculture mining of designers. The theme of this thesis consists of a total of six chapters with progressivelayers of thesis writing. The first chapter focuses on discussing the necessity of building the urbanlandscape with the regional features, and research background, research objectives, research methods as well as domestic and foreign research status. The second chapter mainly deals with the conceptual analysis of geographicalfeatures and urban landscape, including the concept of regional features, scope aswell as the carrier. Based on the local natural conditions and strongreligious cultural factors, the writer explains the application of theabove-mentioned point of view in the study cases to analyze Yushu Tibetan livingenvironment characteristics, confirm the wisdom of the Tibetan people fullyembody their great wisdom against nature, adaptive to and utilization of nature forsustainable development. The sixth chapter once again stresses the importance of geographical designconcept for contemporary urban construction by reviewing the writer’s point ofview and summarization.
