Embankment is one of the main structure form of the highway sub-grade,Nowadays, Much attention has been paid to its stability evaluation and extensiveresearch has been carried out on it. However, he existing research focuses on thestability coefficient method based on force balance and torque balance. Research onprediction methods of stability evaluation based on the deformation condition is soweak that it difficult to meet the demand of stability monitoring control and evaluationin the embankment filling stage and normal operating period. In this paper, we divide the mountain embankment slope into three kinds of typicalslope, that is, the flat foundation embankment, the broken line foundation embankmentand the oblique one, And then, take these three as the research objects to analyses theirdeformation characteristics in filling stage and normal operating period by using thefinite element software PLAXIS, Find out the deformation data and stability coefficientin these two periods. Get a line chart between the displacement and stability coefficient, and find out the monitoring sensitive point which can be used to characterize thesecurity conditions of bank slope. At last, develop a security evaluation criteria ofembankment slope based on the deformation, according to the relationship between thedeformation of the monitoring sensitive point and the stability of the embankment slope. The result shows that, when damage comes to the three kinds of different foundationform of embankment, the most likely sliding surface is the parabolic one; When bankslope destruction occurs, The maximal displacement monitoring points are associatedwith the most likely slip surface location; According to the deformation of themonitoring sensitive point, the safety status of the slope can be divided into Four grades, that is, he state of primary, intermediate, dangerous, and collapse. The results of this paper have important academic significance and real applicationvalue in knowing better about the relationship between displacement and stability of theembankment slope, judging the secure state of embankment by the deformationmonitoring data and forecasting the possible damage in advance.
