With the implement of the grand westen development program in China, the airport construction in the mountainous southwest of China is coming into a promptly developing period. High embankment, complex geological conditions accompanied with soft soil,soft rock, and short construction period are the main characteristics for these airports. Therefore, the foremost and main task is to solve the problems concerning the stability and deformation of the high embankment during the constructionin properly in these regions.The thesis deals with high embankment slope(I-5region) of Yuezhao airport in Liupanshui,GuiZhou province in China. The grade index for the flight area is 3C in this term and 4C in the future by expanding consruction.The runway is 2600m long and 45m wide.The height of the fill is almost 77.55m in the target area,which pertains to the high fill projects of the airport . The basement of the fill area is a slope dip place of slow dip downhill roch.Therefore, it is very necessary that the research on the stability of the side slope filled .Because this not only affects the design, construction, operation and investment of project ,but also desides the feasibility of the project. thusit is the key of the successful construction of the airport.The thesis firstly studies the engineering of geologic situation of the high embankment slope,and find out that the field'spography,morphology,geological structure and bad geological phenomenan by surveying the details of the field precisely,which is the basis for analyzing the stability of the field.Secondly,this thesis emphasizes the analysis to the stress distribution, deformation features and estimate the stability of the high embankment slope ,which is based on the research to the geology-rock mechanics conditions.Through two-dimensional elastoplastic finite element simulate the process of break mechanism of the high embankment slope by its own gravity,the research about the stress of high embankment body and the stress of the ground ,and the deformation distribution, find the positions which is most possibile for appearing metamorphosis and slip surface. On this basises,we can anlyse the stability condions of different section planee of the filled high embankment slope and calculate the stability factor of different condition with limiting equilibrium principle.At the same time,we use the finite element analytical findings to simulate stability condition at natural state after the embankment.And in the natural state,the merits and demerits of limiting equilibrium principle is compared with finite element's.Then we get the best stability factor and estimate the stability of the high embankment in the field.Finally,Thi paper gives some suggestions for the settlement and handling measure for the problems concerning the high embankment slope basement and the filled body.As is seen from the above analysis,the entire stability of the 1-1 section plane filled is good,the 2-2,3-3section plane exist the problems of global stability alongside with the high of the strong-moderate weathering carbonaceous mudstone.
