Electrical energy is an important energy in modern society, and it make huge contribution in the process of industry development in all aspects. Electricity produced all kinds of loss in the transmission process from the power supply to the client, and these are called the line loss. It is related to not only the Economic benefit、management level, but caused the social energy waste. And it is the more important. For a long time, line loss is an important synthetic economical indicator. Theoretical line loss calculation of the distribution network is used to identify that structure and operation of distribution network is reasonable and economic or not with the existing power grid conditions. According to the distribution of line loss develop improvement measures to save energy consumption.According to the Shanxi Province Datong power supply branch company requirements, using XinRong10kV distribution network line as an example, theoretical line loss is researched and calculated. At last, optimized the structure and improvement calculation method were made.Comparing the various theoretical line loss calculation method fully, the conditions and the advantages and disadvantages of the respective calculation were analyse d. On this basis, three options were put forward:rms current method of allocation、method of optimize the equivalent resistance and improved forward. Improvement of each of the three methods was described. Based on existing available data resources and computing requirements, improved forward was choiced after analysis and comparison.10kV distribution network was generally closed loop design and open loop operation. Distribution network has many branches, and the structure is complex. But, overall, from lOkV bus to the end of the power supply node, it is radial distribution. In this paper, according to actual distribution of lOkV distribution network a radial network model was built, and it had sufficient levels and branches. Distribution network loss calculation formula about this model was got.Combined with real-time system data of the power grid dispatch automation and management information systems, XinRong10kV distribution network line loss was calculated. The result was verified by artificial statistical data. It indicates the method of calculation is feasible, and the result is accuracy and effective. The software project related were introduced, which can be used for further popularizing and applying.
