Our country is a mountainous country, land resources which can be used directly is relatively scarce. But in recent years, due to people’s growing need for material and cultural, as well as the imbalance of economic development and agricultural development in our country, and a lot of barren hills caused by human beings. The final result is the serious threat to human being’s survival and development posed by limited land resources and poor ecological environment. More and more attention are putting on how to get rid of the plight of a huge population less arable land、a lot of barren hills and put in a harmonious coexistence between human and nature. And the research on how to transform and reuse the barren hills is undoubtedly an attempt to seek for cooperation between human and nature and rebuild nature.The integrated use of literature review、field investigation comparative analysis and summary、the inspection of practice in this paper, conducted a preliminary exploration of the transformation of the barren hills. This paper takes MaoDuoli plantation as a case, firstly investigating the objective area of barren hills, and analysis the feasibility of building a plantation; Secondly, through the use of the existing design theory and the try of transformational means, this paper transform the barren hills from three starting points:the perspective of landscape planning, architectural design and public facilities design; Finally, in the view of design perspective, this paper do theoretical summary and thinking on the transformation process of the barren hills.
