With development and industrialization, the structure of modern city is changingstealthily. The ‘upper construction’ of a city is affected by similar lifestyles and thinkingmodes of original inhabitants and new arrivals, and the change of a city map is affected in thefollowing. People’s living environment has being altered entirely by social development andimprovement, especially by a unification of all kinds of industrial products, which bringsabout evidently convenience for city management on one hand, but some flaws on the otherhand.‘Unification’ can also be defined as ‘no features’ in a way with its hidden description:good order. In the perspective of modern city’s development, it is unexpected that a citywithout humanistic concern causes a lack of history inheritance, spiritual civilization, andcultural propagation. Therefore, it has a significant meaning to carry on the local history,conserve local culture and then to involve these essences into a city’s planning rationally forcity’s image building and spiritually cultural inheriting instead of simply aspiring ofsubstances.In a city building process, the beauty of outside appearance is easily neglectedcomparing with its practical functions when design the street and facilities as they are justaccessories in landscape. However, in this modern era when the construction of spiritualcivilization is highly pursued, integrating tastes and culture with the practical functions playsa vital role in producing outstanding opuses for city design.This article will discuss the meaning and influence of street and facilities existing in anurban space with exploring the design of a city, street and facilities.Text is divided into six parts: one, street furniture, background and overview; Second,the theory of urban public space discourse; Third, street furniture theoretical discourse; four,the aesthetic design of street furniture elements; five, street furniture design the culturalelements; six, street furniture Case Study in Xi’an.Full respectively, from:(1) the generation of street furniture background;(2) thedefinition of street furniture and classification;(3) public aesthetic impact on the design ofstreet furniture;(4) cultural heritage embodied in the design of street furniture, and many other discusses aspects of the theory of street furniture design. And, in Xi’an, for example,illustrate aspects of street furniture in the cultural heritage of the importance of urbandevelopment, as well as cultural development to the impact of street furniture design.
