Composite steel plate shear wall (C-PSW) is the excellent lateral-force resisting systemwith high load-carrying capacity, good ductility and large stiffness. For high-rise buildings,composite steel plate shear wall is becoming increasingly popular in recent years. Firstly, thepaper expounds the research history, status and related specifications about C-PSW by thelarge number of references.Secondly, according to the elastic buckling theory, the article analyses and discusses theprinciple of the stiffened effect from reinforced concrete plate to the steel plate. In this paperwe divide the C-PSW into the combination wall and buckling-restrained wall depending onthe different interaction between the reinforced concrete plate and the embedded steel plate,and discuss the stiffened difference between them. New calculation formula were summarizedbased on computational analysis on the available calculation formula about the the reinforcedconcrete plate thickness and shear connector spacing.Thirdly, the paper make a deeply research on performance, capacity and stiffness of thesteel plate shear wall(SPSW) by using the theory analysis and numerical calculating method.On the basis of the SPSW work, the paper do the further research on the performance,capacity and stiffness of the buckling-restrained wall, whereafter discussing and analyzing thedepth-thickness ratio, the boundary columns stiffness and other influence factors impact onthe buckling-restrained wall, and obtain the capacity and stiffness calculation formula to theC-PSW.Finally, to sum up the design proposed provisions summarized above, we draw a fullcombination of C-PSW design proposed provisions, and point out the further researchdirections and problems, as well as propose the C-PSW performance-base design idea.
