The links of eccentrically braced steel frames sustain large inelastic deformationexcellent ductility and energy dissipation capacity. The large number of domestic andforeign scholars study by theorial and experimental studies about a variety kind of steelplate shear walls have found that the steel plate shear wall (SPSW) is regarded as anexcellent kind of new lateral force resistant system. Experimental and theoreticalstudies have acknowledged its excellent lateral force resisting characteristics, includinghigh lateral stiffness capacity, excellent ductility capacity, cost effective energydissipation capacity, and higher ultimate bearing capacity and so on. Because ofconsideration of eccentrically braced and steel plate shear wall, a new kind of thin steelplate shear wall with two side connection and eccentrically braced is presented in thispaper (SBT). The behavior of eccentrically braced steel plate shear wall with two sideconnection is studied by employing finite element analysis software ANSYS. Themajor research contents are listed as follows:The behavior analysis of eccentrically braced steel shear wall with two sideconnection (SBT) is studied by employing finite element analysis software ANSYSand compared with steel shear wall with two side connection (ST) under cyclic load,which obtains the comparative analysis summaries of the hysteresis curve, theenvelope curve, ductility factor, stiffness degeneration, and cofficient of energydissipation. The scale of models are1:1. By analysing the results show that theeccentrically braced steel shear wall with two side connection is higher than the steelshear wall with two side connection in the carrying capacity of the elastic stage and the elastioplastic stage; The eccentrically braced steel shear wall with two side connectionhas a good plastic deformation capacity.The application of the finite element analysis software ANSYS select72different parameters of the model to calculate the steel wall’s elastic buckling load andelastioplastic buckling load, including different depth to thickness ratio of the panel,width to depth ratio of the panel, the elastic stiffness of the column, and the linkslength. The conclusions are listed as follows: The depth to thickness ratio of the panelaffects elastic buckling load and elastioplastic buckling load obviously. because thethin panel’s nonlinear behavior is different with the thick panel; The width to depthratio of the panel has an greater effect on elastic buckling load and elastioplasticbuckling load. The elastic stiffness of the column is not clear about elastic bucklingload, but it is clear about elastioplastic buckling load; The links length affects elasticbuckling load and elastioplastic buckling load small.The purpose of this dissertation are engineering and foundation applications.Based on the finite element analysis software ANSYS, the eccentrically braced steelshear wall with two side connection not only has a high bearing capacity, but also has alarge displacement ductility capacity. All these summaries and suggestions will have acertain signifiant guidance on seismic design and lay a theoretical foundation on theeccentrically braced steel plate shear wall with two side connection.
