The main content of this paper is the energy-saving research for the full year’s usage of absorption heat pump in thermal power plants. On one hand, to use the waste heat in power plant effectively and solve the problem that the heat load supply does not match the users’demands, the program of winter heating application of absorption heat pump in power plants is proposed. On the other hand, to increase the annual utilization of absorption heat pump, also ease the tight supply situation of electricity in summer, the program of summer cooling application of absorption heat pump in power plants is proposed. In this paper, variable condition calculation procedures of heating and pure condensate modes of a300MW extraction condensing unit are made, as the basic calculation model for program analysis, which mainly includes analysis of energy efficiency and economy of the heating、cooling programs.Consider the possible differences of power plants in South and North when carrying out the heating、cooling programs, several cases of heating or cooling in south and north are discussed. While analyze heating programs, compare absorption heat pump heating way with the two existing heating methods, electric air conditioning heating and cogeneration heating methods in suoth and north respectively. While analyze cooling programs, because electric air conditioning cooling way is used both in south and north, only take the south power plants as an example, compare the cooling program of absorption heat pump to the local electric air conditioning cooling way. In addition, due to the poor cooling effect of single-effect absorption heat pump, the program that use double-effect absorption heat pump cooling in summer is proposed, and corresponding computational analysis is taken. The conclusions are, winter heating application of absorption heat pump could increase the heating capacity, improve energy efficiency and revenue of power plants. Summer cooling application of single-effect absortion heat pump can not save energy, and its economy is not good. And summer cooling application of double-effect absorption has good efficiency on both energy saving and economic.
