Research On Protection And Utilization Of Luo Yang’s Industrial Settlements During The First Five Year Construction Period

During the first five year construction period in the1950s, six projects of "156projects" were built in Jianxi District of Luoyang. More than30residential settlements which were commonly known as the "neighborhood" were built to support the six industrial factories, they save the distinctive character of early industrial neighborhood of china, carrying on warm, bright and collective memory of that memorable era, they are extremely important industrialization remains in the history of Luoyang and china. Since1980, most of these "neighborhood" were reconstructed, the only remaining small part of the survival is also faced with the grim situation. They are need of urgent protection.Research on protection and utilization of Industrial settlements, was a comprehensive social practice, not a simple programming problem. It relates to the theories of historical and cultural protection, industrial heritage protection, urban renewal and other, also closely relates to the city’s social, economic, cultural. Main jobs generally include the pre-planning, planning and design, post-implementation and management. The pr-planning can be subdivided for three aspects,which are the investigation and registration, evaluation, research and planning. This article mainly focuses on the pre-planning studies of protection and utilization of Luoyang’s industrial settlements.This article, on the basis of theoretical analysis and the research of Luoyang’s history and reality, completed directory registration and problem analysis of existing industrial settlements of Luoyang.This article identified value of these industrial settlements from both qualitative and quantitative aspects, which responds to why protect from value perspective. This article also proposed the implementation mechanism, including the ideas, principles, strategies and models, which response to how to protect and use.
