In recent years, the highway mileage of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region is increasing year by year and transportation infrastructure conditions is improved gradually. But the number of traffic accident still appears the increased trend year by year, it is a serious threat to the life and property security of people. Prairie is wide in Inner Mongolia. Constructed and constructing highway pass inevitably through prairie. Feature of prairie highway is long straight line, big curve radius, small gradient, more grade change point, monotonous landscape and fewer road environmental stimuli, etc. The variation of horizontal and vertical index is unreasonable in the prairie highway, which impacts the smooth of road alignment. The study of curve combination section on prairie highway will provide the theoretical basis for drivers’safe driving and road designers.Taking the prairie highway as the research object, combining plenty of driving experiment data, and applying road alignment design theory, psychophysiological theory and the relevant mathematical methods, this study makes related research, analysis and modeling on actual driving data of prairie highway. This paper preliminary selected heart rate, the growth rate of heart rate and LF index of heart rate variation as evaluation index; Secondly, this paper makes the partial correlation analysis between longitudinal slope and horizontal curve alignment elements and the HR growth, also it concludes alignment elements that influences ECG index of driver on the prairie highway:slope and curve radius; Finally, this paper established related model of the slope and drivers’ HR increment on the upslope and downgrade sections, of curve radius and drivers’ HR growth on curve section, and of the curved slope and drivers’ HR growth on the curve combination section. The article reaches the following conclusions:(1) On the upslope sections up to3.1%, the HR growth and mental load reaches maximum, and drivers’ fatigue sense enhance. As the gradient is more than3.1%, the driver is not sensitive for slope variation and gradually adapts this variation, and HR growth is negative growth trend;(2) On the downhill slope sections up to2.6%, the HR growth and mental load reaches maximum, and drivers’ fatigue sense enhance. As the gradient is more than3.1%, the driver is not sensitive for slope variation and gradually adapts this variation, and HR growth is negative growth trend;(3) The HR growth decrease gradually with the increase of road curve radius on the horizontal curve section. The increase of curve radius slows down driver fatigue with curve driving;(4) The HR growth increases gradually with the increase of curved slope on the combination section. That index of horizontal and vertical alignment match unreasonable will aggravate driving fatigue. On the most unfavorable small radius curve combination, driver’s ECG index is maximum, and the degree of driver’s tension is the largest one.
