| The inter-city bus brings along convenient services for residents as a newborntraffic which operates in the urban agglomeration. However, there is no cleardefinition to inter-city bus so far, and the planning theory for it is lackey as well. Inthis study, a concept of inter-city bus was put forward based on the analysis of theattribute and pattern of inter-city bus. After, the characteristics and factors influencingdemand were analyzed, which was in order to study the demand of inter-city bus.The operating characteristics were summarized after analyzing the situation ofextant inter-city bus. And the differences from public transit and highway passengerwere clear after compared. Through research on attribute and operating pattern ofinter-city bus, the conclusion of inter-city bus is quasi-public transit was get.A series of surveys were conducted for figuring out the travel characteristics ofinter-city bus, which determine the basis for the demand study. The traffic demand was divided by the transfer of other modes and induceddemand. The disaggregate model was used to solve the transfer traffic, and the elasticcoefficient model was used to solve the induced traffic. The study of induced trafficdemand for inter-city bus was focused on, and the mechanism of induced traffic wasdiscussed, which was based on the law of supply and demand. There, the inducedtraffic demand was determined by the capacity of inter-city bus, then, the inducedcoefficient was calibrated. The demand of inter-city bus was get which was thesummary of transfer demand and induced demand. There is reference for forecastingdemand of some traffic mode which was newborn. |
